What we do
We're the people who show up. We rake and level the gravel, clear waste, clean the gates and fencing, keep the waste-bag dispensers stocked, and report what's broken. We track conditions at the run — surface, drainage, water fountains, summer heat — so there's an actual record of how this space is holding up.
The run was built in 2010 and hasn't had a major reinvestment since. Volunteers fill that gap.

The run
Sternberg Park, Lorimer Street between Montrose Avenue and Boerum Street. About 3,850 square feet, with separate large-dog and small-dog areas.
What's next
We've proposed the Sternberg Dog Run Stewardship Program: a year of monthly volunteer workdays, a shared on-site tool kit, and year-round condition monitoring, October 2026 through September 2027. We've applied for a CitizensNYC Community Leaders grant to help make it happen, and we'll hear back in the fall.

NYC Parks, Council Member Jennifer Gutiérrez's office, the Grand Street BID, the East Williamsburg Collaborative, North Brooklyn Dogs, and volunteers at dog runs across North Brooklyn.
